Scuba Diving

Who said you can't try scuba diving if you can't swim? I know that one can! I've tried it and I don't even know how to swim or even float! It was a wonderful experience indeed. My first and only one so far...

This was one of my most memorable date with my then boyfriend, now husband in the beautiful island of Coron, Palawan (Philippines) 11 years ago - today!

Lately, I have been spending a lot of time blog hopping... some of my entries here (the ABC's, Positive/Negative, I like the feeling of and Three Things) are titles from other blogs that I have come across. The contents are of course mine.

My problem with blog is that I have a hard time coming up with something to write. I would spend hours in front of the computer, thinking, composing, editing and still nothing... how do you guys do it??? I know I need to update my blog at least twice a week if I want people to visit my blog regularly.

First Encounter

A guy came to the office wanting to do his 2003 and 2004 tax return, and knowing he owes money to the government from his 2002 tax return is insisting that we give him his refund right away. Duh??? The government would definitely use his refund to pay off his debt. After rejecting him, he started yelling "you f_ _ _ _ _g ignorant immigrants" and "i'm a canadian born citizen, my parents and grandparents are all canadian born citizens" (so what???)... he was verbally abusive... I was about to call 911 for assistance when my boss butt in and told him to leave our office.

He is a guy in his mid thirties, very healthy, meduim build... and yet he is on social assistance with the government because he is too lazy to work! I didn't understand his outburst about discriminating immigrants. The way I understand it is that it is the immigrants who are the source for the funds used to pay for his social assistance.

Immigrants are required to bring in a certain amount of money when they enter the country. Yet, despite their credentials/professions in their own country, most of them have to start doing odd jobs just to make ends meet. Why do we do that? Because we believe this country is good for the future of our kids.

This is my first encounter with a Canadian born discriminating immgirants... and I was quite speechless I could feel the blood rushing to my face...

Happy Birthday JUNNIE!

This entry is dedicated to Junnie who is celebrating his birthday today!

I've only known Junnie for the past 7 months (since he migrated to Canada) and am quite speechless right now... so let's just take a look at the timeline before he was born --

1969 Jan 15, The Russian Soyuz 5 went into orbit. The crew then maneuvered to dock with Soyuz 4 and Yevgeny Khrunov became the first astronaut to transfer between linked capsules.

1969 Jan 23, NASA unveiled a moon-landing craft.

1969 Jan 26, California was declared a disaster area after two days of flooding and mud slides.

1969 Feb 5, US population reached 200 million.

1969 Feb 8, A meteor shower hit Mexico creating a luminance in the night sky as bright as day. A meteorite weighing over 1 ton fell in Chihuahua, Mexico.

1969 Feb 9, World's largest airplane, Boeing 747, made its 1st commercial flight.

1969 Feb 23, Pres. Nixon approved the bombing of Cambodia.

1969 Mar 1, After 88 weeks "Sergeant Pepper" dropped off the charts.

1969 Mar 2, 1st test flight of the supersonic Concorde.

1969 Mar 3, Apollo 9 blasted off from Cape Kennedy on a mission to test the lunar module. It made 151 Earth orbits over 10 days.

1969 Mar 12, Paul McCartney married Linda Eastman in London and ... on the other side of the globe, JUNNIE was born!

Thanks for teaching me the world of blogging!

My only contribution to this "maraton blog greeting" is a video of Junnie's attempt at tobogganing in the not-so-white Mount Chinguacousy Park.
