Thursday Thirteen #6: Thankful things

It has been one busy week for me... It's an open house moving sale everyday! I didn't even have the time to blog hop yesterday. My bloglines indicates that I have 32 unread feeds!

Thirteen things I'm thankful for this week!

  1. Kids are doing their house chores religiously. Thanks to the chore chart [which I started last week]! They just love to see all the check marks on each chore, and complain if I don't give them a check mark. They also feel bad when one have more check marks than the other. ",)
  2. Kids are able to keep their room clean every night. Yehey! No more toys scattered on the floor for me to step on when I check up on them every night. Definitely a less stressful week for me. Thanks again to the chore chart!
  3. No TV time during the weekday means less arguing as to what TV show to watch and less shouting in the house.
  4. And because of this, my kids are having a lot of playtime together. Definitely spending more bonding/quality time together!
  5. Antibiotics/medicines, for making my daughter feel better after being sick for 4 days. :-(
  6. Our library's collection of DVD which I can borrow for free! This is how I keep myself updated with the movies since I don't really go to the movie houses anymore.
  7. Deciding to enroll my daughter in a drawing class, which she is enjoying a lot! She is very talented! It's a pity that my son doesn't like to draw.
  8. A very successful "moving out sale"! Only 3 major items (washer/dryer and kid's bunk bed) are not yet sold, once these are sold, we are ready to move! I mean I have to start packing...
  9. Posting and selling my stuff via Craigslist's (free) classified ad. The outcome are not bad.
  10. The family who is accommodating/feeding hubby while he's in Calgary. We found a place we like though we haven't really applied for it yet. The good thing about this place is that 2 units are available for us and for our friend who are also relocating in November. This way we will still be neighbors and we can help each other out in terms of babysitting.
  11. The approval of hubby's car financing application in Calgary. ",)
  12. YM, E-mails and webcam to keep in touch with hubby in Calgary, and our family and friends back home.
  13. Blogging for keeping me sane!

Hi Bubba, Tracie and Amy,
Thanks! Happy TT!

Hi Tani and Jenn,
The chore chart was already suggested at Dr. Phil's show, 2 years ago, I just thought it was too much work for me to make a chore chart. And I never thought it will be good for the kids. Now I know it does work! Try it, you won't regret it!

Hi Evi,
Thanks! I still have lots of small stuff though. But my priority are the major stuff. So once these are gone, then I'll be fine.

Hi Staci, Heather and Chelle,
This was supposed to be my topic last week since it was our Thanksgiving Weekend... but I just got excited with the new developments in our lives that I decided to do the past 13 weeks instead.

I REALLY need to get my kids into the clean room thing again. Ugh.

Drawing class sounds like something my girl might be interested in doing too

Hi Heather,
Wow! you've come up with 2 different 13 things! I have a hard time trying to make 1 list every thursday! ",)

Hi Cece,
You should, definitely less chores for us mothers!

Great list!

We have friends who started a church in Calgary, but I am not sure of the name of it. Their last name is Talbert, though.

Hmmmm...can you send your kids over to talk to my kids about chores? I don't think the checkmarks and chore chart would work for them.

They were just complaining last night how they work SO HARD in school, they don't want to come home and work more. (This is from my 5yo kindergartner.)

They're actually getting better, though.

Great list.

Hi Barbara, Mistress of the Dark, Carmen and Jane.
Happy TT and welcome to my blog!

Hi Colleen,
My kids complain a lot too during the first couple of days... afterwards, they just started doing it on their own without me reminding them. Just give your kids a few more days, but be consistent so they don't get confuse.

Hi Linnor,
Thanks! I just have to be thankful for the everyday little things.
