Good food and T13

In celebration of hubby's birthday, we went to eat at Sumo Grill Japanese Restaurant. It's hubby's favorite food!

This is our first family dinner in a Japanese restaurant [ever]! And I'm glad to say that it was worth it! Kids loved Japanese food. My son enjoyed Sushi like his dad... and my daughter loved her Tempura like me. And though I don't like Sushi, I loved my Yakiniku Beef. I believe this is my first time to eat Tempura in Canada too. Gosh I missed it so much... I am already thinking of celebrating my birthday there next month!

Here's what we ordered:

Terriyaki Chicken and Yakinibu Beef

with Tempura and Sumo Love Bridge
[Sushi, Sashimi and Maki rolls]

Pardon the Sushi tray, I forgot to take the picture of the Sushi before hubby and Patrick dig in... we were all very hungry already!

I was quite hesitant to eat in a Japanese restaurant before because I feel like they are way too expensive. I saw this restaurant as I was doing my shopping for hubby's gift earlier that day. I decided to check out their menu and prices.

The place got ambiance, the service is excellent and the price is reasonable. It is almost the same price as I would pay if we eat at Chili's or Applebee's or Red Lobsters or Friday's.

Thursday Thirteen #25: Movie Marathon #5

13 Movies I've watched recently

Movie download on the internet is back online again. Or should I say, hubby found the new domain. And so our movie marathon continues...

  1. Police Story 4 - Jackie Chan *****
[A must see! For me, this is the best of the series.]
  2. Music and Lyric - Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore *****
[Love it! I can't believe Hugh was singing and dancing in this movie!]
  3. Shrek 3
    [Love it!]
  4. 007's Casino Royale - Daniel Craig
[Pierce Brosnan is still the best for 007's role.]
  5. Premonition - Sandra Bullock and Julian McMahon
[I didn't like the ending of this movie. I always believe in happy endings.]
  6. Perfect Stranger - Bruce Willis and Halle Berry
[Movie was good until the end... I didn't like the twist of this movie.]
  7. Ocean's 13 - George Clooney and Brad Pitt
[This is better than Ocean's 12.]
  8. Spiderman 3 - Tobey Maquire
[I'd say the effects are far better than part 1.]
  9. Night at the Museum - Ben Stiller
[Hilarious... my kids loved this one.]
  10. Fantastic 4 Rise of the Silver Surfer
[I like the first one more.]
  11. Sign - Mel Gibson
  12. The Contractor - Wesley Snipes
    [Interestingly, it's a good movie.]
  13. 300 - Gerard Butler
[Another good movie but not my type of movie.]

Hi, Jo! Don't know if you remember me but I'm Junnie's sis, May, in Manila. I just dropped by to say hi.

As for Japanese food, that's my favorite because of the sushi. Sabi nila wala raw California Maki so parang imbento lang siya. Anyhow, gusto ko parin yun. Kung wala rin dyan, it's a sushi covered in sea weed tapos it has crabstick, mango, rice inside.

my husband and i love to eat japanese food. we always go for the eat all you can. my son doesn't like it though.

i don't like 300. i don't like movies that are so violent. we have the apocalypto. geeh... i couldn't watch it. i don't want to see people being tortured. it's not my thing. i wanted to throw up. even the passion of christ.

Hi Liz,
If you visit me in Calgary, I promise to take you to Sumo Jap Restaurant.

Hi Jane,
Thanks for stopping by... happy TT.

Hi May,
Welcome back to my blog!

Hi Evi,
I haven't found an "eat all you can japanese restaurant" here yet... nobody seems to know if there is one in the city.

Totally agree with you on 300... I think I fell asleep middle part of the movie too. Haven't seen Apocalypto and Passion of Christ yet.

Hi Junnie,
Will definitely take you and Mitzi there when you come to visit us! Tara na...

Happy birthday sa hubby mo. Yan yata ang wala dito, or di pa lang kami napupunta sa japanese resto o dahil wala namang hapon dito...hehehe.

About Fantastic 4, I prefer part 1 also. I mean the special effects in Part2 are so poor in my opinion

I also like Japanese food but I'm not so good in using the chopsticks so most of the time I use the fork which takes away the excitement of eating the dish.

Hi Agring,
Thanks! That's why I don't like sushi, I don't eat raw food too.

Hi Ann,
Thanks! Talaga? Walang Jap resto dyan? Buti na lang dito marami rami. Di lang talaga kami kumakain doon kasi nasa isip ko mahal!

Hi Verns,
Practice makes perfect... just practice using chopstick at home and I'm sure you'll master it in no time.

Hi Jo! Those dishes look yummy! My husband and I love Japanese food too. We love eating Japanese food when we are out together without our son. Last Mother's Day, it was our first time to eat in a Japanese restaurant with our son, Yohan. He ate a little but we had to bring him to Jollibee after that. haha! :)

Nice movie line-up. Have a great weekend!

My siblings and I are all suckers for Japanese food because my father, a widower, took us out to eat Japanese food almost every night whenever we were in Manila. Now, my siblings do the same thing with their children. :)

I'm glad you put a list of movies here, JO, with your short comments. I have been so busy lately so I've not seen any and I missed Shrek 3! But I will use your list to catch up on my VCD or DVD-watching whenever I need a break.

Thanks! I also noted that you will be back in the Philippines in less than a month. :)

Hi Rach,
Maybe Yohan will learn to eat Japanese food too when he's a little older.

Hi Bugsy,
I love watching movies, and though I can't go to the cinema to watch it, I can settle for the downloads. As you can see, there are quite a few new release on my list.

Hi Leah,
Thanks for the greeting!

Hi Raquel,
It just dosn't "look" yummy, it IS yummy indeed! Ang galing talaga ng movie download link na nahanap ni hubby... all the latest movies are there, and some old and classic ones too.
