My Grown Up Christmas List

I received a compilation of Christmas songs in a CD 2 years ago from Junnie... but since I got it a day or so before or after [can't really remember when] Christmas day, I didn't get to hear the CD that year.

The following year [last year] was the time we moved to Calgary. And since I rarely drive back then, I didn't get the chance to play the CD again.

That is, until this month! The first song in that CD is "My Grown Up Christmas List" and this is the first time I've heard this song as I rarely listen to the radio anymore. Anyway, I just thought I'd share the message of that song to all of you.

My Grown Up Christmas List
by Kelly Clarkson

Do you remember me
I sat upon your knee
I wrote to you
With childhood fantasies

Well, I'm all grown up now
And still need help somehow
I'm not a child
But my heart still can dream

So here's my lifelong wish
My grown up christmas list
Not for myself
But for a world in need

No more lives torn apart
That wars would never start
And time would heal all hearts
And everyone would have a friend
And right would always win
And love would never end
This is my grown up christmas list

As children we believed
The grandest sight to see
Was something lovely
Wrapped beneath our tree

Well heaven only knows
That packages and bows
Can never heal
A hurting human soul

No more lives torn apart
That wars would never start
And time would heal all hearts
And everyone would have a friend
And right would always win
And love would never end
This is my grown up christmas list

What is this illusion called
the innocence of youth
Maybe only in our blind belief
can we ever find the truth
(there'd be)

No more lives torn apart
That wars would never start
And time would heal all hearts
And everyone would have a friend
And right would always win
And love would never end, oh
This is my grown up christmas list

What is your Christmas wish this year?

its always been my christmas wish - PEACE ON EARTH - it's true, we really need it, except that others just made a joke out of it

This is such a beautiful song, isn't it? I like Lea Salonga's version and that of Michael Buble.

I sometimes sing this song as a form of prayer...=P

Hi Junnie,
Yes, we all want PEACE ON EARTH... but I think that is impossible to achieve.

Hi Gina,
I only have the version of Kelly C. Haven't heard Lea's version of it yet.
