TT# 41: 13 journal list

13 things in my daughter's journal

During the spring break, I ask my kids to write 10 sentences each day in their journal about anything under the sun. Here's a compilation of what my daughter have to say.
  1. I am good at basketball.
  2. I told Lola [grandma] what are odd and even numbers.
  3. Yesterday I went biking with 4 friends.
  4. My piano can make different sounds.
  5. I love my family. I love myself.
  6. I love to speak French at school.
  7. Patrick knows how to make pizza.
  8. Patrick knows how to make noodles.
  9. I helped Patrick with making the pizza by putting on the cheese.
  10. I helped Patrick with making the pizza by putting on the pepperoni.
  11. I eat the pepperoni first because I loved it.
  12. I am the first customer.
  13. Patrick is really funny.

What a great idea. I've never heard of an idea like that but I bet it really helps them connect with themselves and their writing. Cool!

Happy TT!

You made your kids work over spring break??? You task master, you!

Journaling was a brilliant move, actually. It's work that doesn't really feel like work. Literacy skills are SO important; good for you for doing this, Mom!

They'll never be sorry if it makes writing easier for them, I love to write, but only because I did it a lot when younger, I know other people that it's just torture for! Not me!

Happy Thursday 13!

Hi Soshana,
Thanks!

Hi Lori,
It's not a journal journal.. it's just a notebook where they practice their spelling so to speak.

Hi KC,
Thanks!

Hi Claudia,
I think its good to practice their writing and spelling.

Hi Susan,
It's just a small task in a day. Plus its a way for me to see what they were thinking?

Hi Di,
Hehehe... yes, I was kinda afraid I might read something like that.

Hi Shaunesay,
I hope they will develop the love for writing too.

Hi Jo. This is a good list. It's nice when siblings enjoy helping one another.

Hi Rach,
Thanks! My son really loves to learn how to cook... coz he likes to eat!

Hi Junnie,
Nope, Trish used to love cheese and hate pepperoni. Pat loves everything edible.

Hi Liz,
Thanks! French is such a lovely language to listen to... and I'm glad that both my kids are enjoying it.

Wow, I am impressed with #1, she's too young for this.

What a great list Jo. #5 is sooo sweet.

Hi Raquel,
I haven't seen her play basketball... but her teacher told me that she's good... who knows, she might join the NBA.. hehehe...
