I decided it's about time that I got myself an external hard drive! I have tons of pictures especially since I got my DSLR and burning them in DVDs doesn't seem to be so reliable in the long term.
So I am now busy moving all my pictures to the external HD and renaming them for easy retrieval. This is definitely going to keep me busy for the next couple of days!

Crazy week at work
I decided to work on boxing day, simply because I have some bills I need to pay and working on a stat holiday pays well. The night before that, I was already hesitant whether I should go to work or just stay home or go to boxing day sale. I decided to go to work. Wrong decision!
It was crazy at work that day! Due to the volume of work, we couldn't even get our proper coffee and lunch breaks. They implemented new procedures without considering the available manpower that they have for that day! Everybody was overworked and under appreciated!
Worst, people were "required" or should I say, "forced" to stay on operational overtime, whether they like it or not! And that is not cool at all.
I am just glad that I have the next 5 days off to rest my poor and tired body.
On life policies
When we first moved here, all I could afford then was to get a term life insurance. It's cheaper than a lifetime one. Now, that policy is about to expire and I need to convert it into a permanent one. My agent lives in another province, so I am now dependent on finding the best online life insurance there is out there.
On decorating
I love the way my friend chooses the rugs she got in her living and bonus room. It was just perfect for her color theme, furniture and other accessories. I have been bugging her into giving me tips on how to decorate my living room. Mine is just too plain and ordinary. The only problem is she lives miles away from me! I hope she would come for a visit soon.
Christmas parties
Filipinos have a different way of celebrating Christmas. There's always tons of parties and get-together and reunions, and there's always tons of food! If you are on diet, you will definitely forget about it during the week of Christmas and New Year. After all, you don't want to missed out on those Queso de bola and ham and other traditional food that we have. People on diet will resume their diet or take the best weight loss supplements after New Year to get back in shape.

US Bound flights
Today was a really, really crazy day at work! I wished I had not decided to get an extra shift. It's just that working on a holiday pays well, and since I need to pay off something, I thought that if I worked all 3 holidays this Christmas season, I will have enough to pay that thing off.
December 25 wasn't so bad at all. It's busy but steady. But today, with some new rules implemented, it was crazy busy!!! And all because of this. So if you are traveling to the US, give extra time to go through customs and screening as US has tighten up security.

Missing the corporate world
I am not enjoying my job anymore. There's just too much politics going on. And management's decision is always biased and sometimes discriminating.
When I was in the corporate world, I was really enjoying my window cubicle on the 19th floor. I got the view of the city and sky scrappers. And it was just simply breath taking. Likewise, I loved my job then. I wish it would be easy for me to go back to the corporate world again. I've always wanted to be one of the business plan consultants in a large corporation.
Maybe soon... just have to wait for my kids to grow up a little bit more.
Changes
When we first moved in here, my daughter got our old queen size bed. I decided to make her room ready for visitors especially when their grandparents come to visit.
My son was stuck with his old bed and I promised him then that I would buy him new bed frame and mattress as soon as we can afford it. I wanted to put a queen size bed in his room too since he and his sister still loves to sleep over in each other room.
The only thing that's holding me back is that we already got 3 extra single mattresses here, my son's current bed will be the 4th one, and I don't know what to do with them.
He is going to a teenager in 23 days and he has grown so much this past year too. His Ikea bed will definitely not hold him any much longer. I just hope it will last one more year!

Know the right people
I remember my husband was telling me that he needs to hire an assistant, and that their HR already made a post on the internet and newspaper with the job description and qualifications. Would you believe that over 600 applicants applied for that one position? So his boss ask him if he got a friend that he could recommend instead. Because it is just impossible for them to go through all 600 applications for just 1 position. Big corporations don't really like to go through hundreds of resumes. The best way to get a job here is through networking. It's knowing the right people at the right time.
Playing around with a prime lens
I was able to borrow a 50mm lens from my friend's daughter. I was playing around with it this morning since we couldn't go outdoors because of the snow storm.
It was so hard to have my kids pose for me... this is the best that I could get out of them. I still have yet to play around with the white balance. For these pictures, my white balance is set on auto.
Planning for a summer vacation
Hubby wanted to go back home for the holidays... or at least next summer. As for me, I told him that if we did have the budget to go on holidays, I would prefer to go to some place where we've never been to.
I really enjoyed the time we went home in 2007 because it has been 5 long years. Then we went home again in 2008 to attend a wedding.
And now, since hubby seems to have money for a vacation next summer, I'm looking at some Caribbean vacations packages at BookIt.com. Hope it pushes through...
On weather
It's snowing really hard since yesterday. And to make matter worst, it's blowing snow! So it's zero-visibility for all drivers, and you can't hardly see where you are going when you are walking because the snow will just get in your face.
I honestly don't know why I agreed to move to this very cold, and snowy place. I prefer places where it is easy to look for an Outer Banks beach rentals and enjoy the sun and sand and beach!
Wildlife shooting
My photography class is scheduled to go to the zoo this Sunday to shoot some wildlife from 9am till 12:30pm. And that will also be part of my final assignment which is due in less than 3 weeks. But with the freezing cold that we've been having for the past couple of days, I'm not sure if I can stand being outdoors to do the wildlife shooting. It's in the -20sC right now and we might also get some snow this weekend. I don't want to miss the field trip as I don't want to miss all the tips and tricks that I could learn from our instructor. What should I do???
This is the one time that I wish the chinook would come in and warm up the place for our zoo trip. I honestly don't know what I am doing in a very cold country when I prefer the tropical weather.
Lose weight effortlessly
Congratulations to our family friend who recently got her RN certificate. It is not easy for her to go back to school to get her license since she was already in her 50s. So while doing the review, she has been eating a lot of junk food and chocolates to keep her awake and she had gained a lot of weight. Now, thanks to the thermogenic fat burner, she had lost it all and some more.
5th Blog-niversary!
Wow! I can't believe that this blog turns 5 today!
I am literally running out of things to write about. I mean there's tons that I could blog about work, but I can't, for security and confidentiality reasons.
My husband doesn't want me to blog about my kids or our family a lot too. He claims that our privacy is at stake.
But I still love to blog. And I love making a few bucks here and there every once in awhile. I wish I have the time to blog hop as often as I used to be. Oh well... let's see how long I can keep this blog active.
