Movie night with the family just got comfy...
Picture was taken right after delivery... that's why there's no accessories yet.

Blog or Facebook

Before I got addicted to Facebook, there's my blog. I used to have 4 blogs, and they are now down to 2.

And since I got addicted to Facebook and found my fellow bloggers there, it took my time away from their blogs. They just update their Facebook regularly, that I don't see the need to visit their blogs anymore. And I guess the same goes for me and my blog.

Boracay Island

This picture was taken during one of my early morning walk along the beach of Boracay...

Winter is here!

I was stuck at home this whole week due to snow and deep freeze... I just dropped the kids off at their bus stop and came straight home.

Sun is finally out today and it stopped snowing. But we are still expecting more snow next week...

Hello Blog Friends!

I am so sorry if I were not able to visit your blog lately... I have been very, very busy. And actually am too overwhelmed with my schedule and tasks on hand.

From taking an online course to a classroom course... my part time work... house chores and kids and home works... and overseeing our basement project... making myself go to the gym regularly... I am just way too overload.

If you did stop by, please do leave me a message so I can return the visit. Hope to hear from someone soon...

Downtown - Olympic Plaza

Downtown

Believe it or not, we've been in this city for 4 years already and this is the very first time that I was able to walk around downtown. I mean I go there quite a few times already, but I was always just driving by or attend some business.

This day though, despite the cold weather, I decided it's high time I walk around the block and take some photos...

Age 14

My son is excited to get his learner's permit on his upcoming 14th birthday. He is busy studying the driver’s manual now. He said that most of his classmates are going to try to get their learner's permit on their birthday. He and my daughter has been fighting over who will get their dad's car already! Hahaha...

Soon, he may want to look for jobs during the summer. Oh boy, stop growing up too fast...

Our log house

Well, it is not actually "our" log house. It's my in-laws' log house. They are very proud of this investment of theirs and it had had many guests already, both locally and friends from abroad. The view from the log house is spectacular too.

My in-laws dream is to buy some cabin beds, dressers and night stand to make it the "ultimate" log house.

15 Things

From Facebook. Rules: Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you.

  1. I love to travel [budget permitting] either by car or by plane.
  2. We will definitely be going back to the Philippines as much as we could afford.
  3. My bucket list includes: sky diving, hot air balloon and a luxury cruise.
  4. We just celebrated our 15th anniversary!
  5. I usually work on holidays since hubby will be home with the kids.
  6. I'm a trying hard photographer.
  7. My first DSLR is a Nikon D-40 which I already sold to a friend. And I am now a proud owner of a Nikon D-90.
  8. I've done quite of bit of photo shoot since then and some perspective photography.
  9. Took 4 photography course related already, and am currently taking up Photoshop.
  10. We just made a trip to Panorama Mountain Village in BC. And it was awesome.
  11. Tried my very first Mountain Yoga session there. And my body didn't like it.
  12. We've traveled to Edmonton quite a bit this summer since we bought the 3 month pass to access all the parks at West Edmonton Mall.
  13. I love digital scrapping, but just couldn't find the time to do them now.
  14. I have 50+ photo albums at home! And I don't know where to put them.
  15. And lastly, I am trying out the gym for the very first time in my whole life! I am desperate to lose weight or else my doctor is going to give me medication!
And that's it!!! Tag, you're it!

10-10-10

Just needed to post this on 10-10-10...

Happy thanksgiving to all Canadians!

My teenager

Sometimes I still couldn't believe that I have a teenager already. He is starting to mature, little by little. He is becoming conscious of his weight too. And his interest has moved on from gameboy games to more mature, more violent games. He had been dropping hint here and there that for his 14th birthday he wanted a PS3. He claims all his friends play PS3 only, none of them play Wii or DS anymore.

My answer to that, he should save his allowance as much as he could, and if he can come up with 70% of the price, then I will be happy to pay for the other 30%.

Cheers!

It's our 15th wedding anniversary today!!!

Happy Anniversary to my beloved husband!

Finally, I'm a member

I am finally a member of a fitness gym club! I was really hesitant to sign a two year contract, but overall, it is cheaper in the long run, and if ever I do need to cancel, it will still be cheaper than finishing a one year contract. Go figure.

Anyway, I'm really enjoying my time at the gym. In the 40 years of my existence, this is my first time to try out the gym. I usually attend the group exercise, it's more fun to have a small group of people to work out with. I especially liked Zumba [latin dance!]

I'm hoping that this would help me lose some weights. Doctor wanted me to lose 15 pounds by December. If not, then it might be time for me to click here and do more research.

Things that makes me happy!

I just read a few articles in the Chicken Soup for the Soul, Count your Blessings edition. And it made me realized that we should try to write down one or two items that we are blessed with every single day. I started my kids on that...

  1. My Husband. He is the reason for my being! He made my dream come true!

  2. My kids. Though they sometimes drives me crazy, they are the love of my life! Every single hug and kiss, just takes away my bad day and all my troubles. I love when they make me home made cards for Mother's day, Valentine's, Christmas and Birthdays. And I kept them all.

  3. Friends. They keep be sane. We all need time away from our family, and I am so glad that I have a group of friend to hang out with.

  4. Photography and photo albums. I love taking pictures and even though I am not in it, it's okay. I'm just glad that I am able to take those photos.

  5. Tax Season. I wish tax season is a whole year job, coz this is one thing that I really love doing. I don't feel like it's a JOB at all. Despite the long hours during the peak of tax season, I don't really feel tire at all.

What's your blessings for today?

My daughter's second cake

And here is our second cake...

Link to her first cake is here. Next target is to decorate some cupcakes.

My daughter's first cake

My daughter and I attended a Cake Decorating Class for beginners, and this is our final assignment. She did most of the decorating, while I made the cake and prepare the icing. Her favorite is making the leaves!

Busy, busy me!

I'm currently taking 3 courses... two of them are tax related courses, 1 classroom, 1 online course... the other is Photoshop. I don't know why I did this to myself. Am too overwhelmed right now!

I just spent the whole afternoon on my online course. After 5 hours, Chapter 1 is done. Tomorrow, I need to finished Chapter 2.

I'm also trying out the gym tomorrow and Thursday [for free]. I hope my body will like the workout. I've never been in a gym ever in my whole life. And in desperation, I just have to give it a try. I really need to lose weight! I don't want my doctor to put me on medication and as long as I lose 15 pounds by December, she said I should be fine. That means no more partying and eating out.

On the brighter side, one of my dream may be a reality soon, very soon... I may have to forego some of the luxury and pampering, and possible trip in December, but this is worth the wait. Hope everything goes well.

Good luck to me!

Remembering 9/11

GOD works in mysterious ways.

A college friend of mine was working for a company at one of the twin towers. That faithful day, she was supposed to work at 7am till noon and then leave for her appointment with the consulate regarding their green card. That day, she decided to sleep in late, and didn't realized what had happened until around noon time. Families have been frantic trying to get in touch with her, but all phone lines where already cut off at that time. It was really hard to contact anyone in New York. She's a workaholic. And if she hadn't slept in, we don't know what would have happened to her.

.....oOo.....

It is because of 9/11 why we have all these restrictions on liquids and gels, disallowing even toy guns or replica guns/bullets on belt and small knives on your carry on. I hope all passengers will realized that these restrictions were put in place for the safety of the flying public. I am just one of the officers implementing these rules. So don't take it out on me if we have to confiscate your child's toy gun or your oversize perfume or toothpaste.

Flying can still be fun, if we just limit our carry-on. You don't really need your shampoo or conditioner during the flight, right? So why put them in your carry-on when you can put them in your checked bags? Carry-on are for the stuff that you "might or will" need during the flight like medication or a change of clothes or books to read while waiting!

Remember to travel lite!

Weekend Fun #2

Can't believe that "ber" months is here already... and soon it will be Christmas. Time to get my Christmas list ready.

After our trip to Panorama Mountain Village, that same weekend, we made another trip to West Edmonton Mall and Jasper National Park.

Today is the first day of school for my kids and they had the perfect summer despite the un-cooperating weather. And it's peace and quiet time for again at home until 4pm.

These photos could have been a perfect reflection if not for the cloudy sky.

We've been here for 4 years and last July was the first time we've been to the Stampede Parade. Because this parade is mostly about horses, the smell of the horses' poops are just all over the place. That's the only thing I hate about the Stampede. Other than that, we had a blast.

This was part of the parade. Perfect for this week's theme, right?

Arnel Pineda

I don't know who Arnel Pineda is until he came for a concert and my husband insisted that we watched his concert. Since I don't know him, I bought the cheapest tickets and brought my son's binocular so we could get a better view. But we didn't really need it, since we were able to move from the upper balcony to the stage area and even got close enough to have my picture taken with Arnel. I enjoyed the concert very much since he sang a lot of my 80s favorite songs! You rock Arnel and good luck to your foundation.

  2. Reflections. Just perfect timing for me!
  3. White Water Rafting. Fun, fun, fun!
  4. Blue. Peaceful scenery.
  5. Red. Not my bedroom, but a friend's master bedroom. It's just how they bought the house.

Now, as a birthday gift to my daughter, I decided to paint her room. And these are the colors that she chooses. What do you think?

Beach Wedding

I attended my first beach wedding last June. The reason why we made an unplanned trip to the Philippines.

The wedding was awesome! The weather and the sunset was perfect!

The only thing that I didn't like is the people in the background in all my pictures. Because the setting is by the beach front, there will always be strangers roaming around and trying to take a peek at the wedding. And no matter where you turn, you can never get rid of them.

I don't even know if the official photographer is going to Photoshop his photos to get rid of those unwanted people in the background. If he did, it's going to take a lot of hours! I know I don't have the patience for it.

Congratulations to the newly weds!

I cropped this picture to get rid of the unwanted people on the left side,
but couldn't do it on the right side without cutting off the bouquet.

The grooms' family

Still got unwanted people in the background :-(

Love gives me hope

Just though I'd share this...

  • Today, I was feeling really down about myself. I told my boyfriend how I hated my flat chest and felt ugly. He pulled me into his arms and said, "Well I like it. Because then nothing gets in the way when I hold you." His love gives me hope.
  • A girl on campus left a suicide note. Another girl found it and got dozens of people together to make countless paper hearts saying "You are LOVED!" They placed them all over the ground, sidewalks, lamp posts, cafe tables -- everywhere. The love everyone on campus had for someone they didn't know gives me hope.
  • My little sister has Sturge Weber and has to get laser surgeries on her face that leave her with polkadot-like burns. After her last surgery, my uncle planned a "Polka Dot Party" and drew polka dots on every member of my family. They went out to dinner like that so she wouldn't feel alone. Love that holds together families gives me hope.

Wordless Wednesday: Feeding the birds

My son got the chance to try a lot of new stuff while we were on vacation last June. He had the chance to swim with the dolphins, went parasailing in Boracay [pictures to follow], tried snorkling, drove a buggy [pictures to follow again], and in the picture below, he tried feeding the birds. Truly a memorable year for him.

Black and White

Going back to where it all began... @ Heritage Park...

I loved this picture. I have been too busy to play around with my Nikon lately. I promise to take more black and white pictures! It is more dramatic and had a nostalgic effect, right? So expect to see more black and white photos here.

Summer activities

I was exposed to the sun a lot the past 2 months! I am sunburned already. I try to remember to put sunblock on, but there were times that I just forget. Now, it is going to take a long, long time for my skin to go back to it's natural color.

I bought season pass to Calaway Park and we've been going there almost every week. And then there's our weekly picnic at the park. My schedule is fully booked till end of August. We got 2 overnight trips coming up...

Litratong Pinoy: Gusto/ginusto (to like, to desire)

Gusto kong masubukan ang mag sailing... hindi ko na inasam na magkaroon ng sarili kong bangka, matikman ko lang sana, masaya na ako.

I really want to try sailing someday. I don't need to own one, just to try it would be enough to make me happy.
