On Photography

There is no camera that can make a picture.
No lens, no lights can make a picture.
Forget about different cameras and accessories, just use what you've got.
Only your eyes can make a picture.

I got this quote from a photography blog, but unfortunately, I couldn't find his link anymore... Do you guys agree with this quote?

Adjustable beds

My son needed a new bed. He is now taller than me, and weighs almost as his dad. And he still uses his old bed for kids. I told him that we will start decorating his room to look like a teenager room. While at the store, he took interest in adjustable beds and ask if he could have one like that! He claims it would help him sleep at night better. What do you think?

New printer

When I bought this laptop of mine, the promo was a free printer. I was able to choose from a couple of HP printers available within a specified value. Unfortunately, I think I made the wrong choice. This printer of mine used up the ink easily. It said that I can print as much as 200 pages with it, but unfortunately that's not what's happening right now.

I remember last tax season, I only need to buy 2 ink for my old bubble jet printer... with this new one, I just bought my 3rd one and I still got 6 weeks of tax season left.

"It's about time mommy!"

Finally, I got a deal to have cable TV hook up to our house. Can you believe that we have not had a TV connection for the past 4 years? Yes, we manage to survive without basic TV and just rely on watching movies.

My husband even resorted to purchasing indoor antennas hoping to catch some local channels, but unfortunately because they were the cheap kinds, it didn't work.

So now, we've got cable TV and my kids said "It's about time mommy!"

Accutane's side effects

If you are using acne products, please be aware of the possible side effects.

Example: Accutane side effects includes scarring for life. Because it works with a form of vitamin A called isotretinoin, eliminating not only oils in the skin, but also liquids and oils throughout the whole body, including the eyes, joints, mouth, and other important areas. We all need the natural oils in our body. But Accutane stops all, causing dryness, discomfort with contacts, joint pain, back pain, dizziness, drowsiness, nervousness, dryness of the lips, mouth, nose, and skin, cracking or peeling of skin, itching, rashes, or changes in finger nails. These are just a few side effects, there's more. Do your research before you use any products on yourself.

Remembering Atong

Do you believe that someone could say goodbye to you before they are gone? I do.

Atong was my Manager's nephew. He was uneducated, so he serve as my Manager's driver. I was a newly grad when I met Atong. It was my first job as a New Accounts clerk. As soon as the bank closes at 3pm, he would be there in the branch waiting till it's time for my Manager to go home. Her home time varies, so he tends to wait for her. And while waiting, he would sit in front of me while I do my balancing and he would spend time to talk to me and my colleagues. He was a very nice guy and very gentle.

I remember one time on my birthday, my friends sent me a bouquet of flowers at work. And I wanted to take the flowers home with me and he offered to drive me since he knows that I commute to work and carrying that would be too much for me. Thanks to my Manager for letting me use her car and her driver for that day.

I am also in charge of answering the phone and he would call every day to talk to my Manager. He would never chit chat with me on the phone since he knows we are always busy.

One day, he called during lunch hour, I told him that our Manager is not in and to call back later. And he said he didn't want to talk to our Manager but he just wanted to say "hi" to me. That was weird for me since he had never done that in the past. We would always talk when he was in the branch, never on the phone. He said: "is it a sin to call my beautiful friend?... Anyway I just wanted to say goodbye to you." And I asked him where are going? He said "nowhere. Just wanted to hear your voice today... Okay, goodbye and take care." The conversation was really short and it puzzled me.

Two days later, he died. I never knew the actual reason, our Manager never told us. It was like he had foreseen what's going to happen and just wanted to say goodbye to me. This happened over 17-18 years ago...

Sometime in the near future

Weather is starting to warm up... snow is almost gone... and it's time to plan for the summer. And today, I just saw an RV driving along the highway.

We were thinking of going for a long drive and rent an RV. I think it would be a wonderful experience for our family since we love road trips. But we are so clueless when it comes to RV and the maintenance it requires. A colleague shared their story about their first experience and bottom line is, we need insurance. We were told to get mechanical breakdown insurance which is better than a simple 5th wheel warranty. Still need to do more research and advance planning before we could decide if we want to push with the plan or not. And I'm sure it's going to take us years to plan this one out.

Workaholic

I am so glad I kept my old pair of eyeglasses. My new one got a loose screw and I can't wear them already. So it is always handy to keep a backup especially since I can't drive at night without my glasses.

And due to my hectic schedule with my 2 jobs and being a mother and cook, I simply don't have the time to bring it back to the store to have it fix. Unfortunately, I have been working for 30 straight days already... and I don't seem to have any time this week to take a day off. :-(

I know I need to slow down... and I am working on it.
