Gift items

Our group at work is expanding. We are getting more and more people who loves to join our parties and get together. And with this, whenever we put in money to buy birthday gifts, we can afford to buy a little bit on the expensive side. If each contribute $15 and there's an average of 10-20 of us, we got a pool of money from $150 to $300. And with that sum of money, we were able to buy digital cameras, Coach/Guess hand bags, perfumes, ashton cigars, cellphone, and even a Boss headphone. And for me, who is always in charge of buying the gifts, it gets easier with a big budget.

Boss and Walgreens

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I blogged about Boss numerous times already.   As you know he was a special child, he got Down Syndrome. And as I was just thinking about what to write, I thought of him.  You see, Boss had been to the US in 2006.  He toured New York, New Jersey, Washington, Maryland and Virginia.   I tell you, there's lots of road trips involved in this trip.

One of the things he was trained to do was to minimized eating because he had problems with his digestive system.  In his excitement to travel to New York, he actually left his medicine!  So on his very first day in New York, my sister-in-law brought him to Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products to buy him the Walgreens Omeprazole Acid Reducer.  The Pharmacist recommended this and he was very helpful and understanding, even though Boss had a hard time speaking English, he tried his best to communicate.    Anyway, the Pharmacist assured him that this medicine will work as well as his current medicine, 100% guaranteed.  And they both hi-five on it.  Sad to say, I can't locate my picture of this.

Anyway, for all Walgreens shoppers out there, you might want to check out Walgreens Way to Well Fund™. Basically it informs its consumers that they are working with some of the nation's top health organizations to support their prevention and early detection efforts.  Also, check out the giveaways from other fellow blogger by simply leaving a note on their blogs.

Postcards from Manila

My husband and I get homesick a lot. All of our family are still back home.

And seeing/reading a blog like this [Postcards from Manila] makes us feel more homesick. My husband actually stumble on that blog and shared it with me and now, I am sharing it with you.

For those who haven't been to the Philippines, it is a lovely place to visit. Just take a look at these breathtaking scenery as photographed by Bobby.

Unfortunately, for the locals, my friends say that it is cheaper to travel out of the Philippines [like HongKong, Singapore, Bangkok...] than within. :-( But for foreigners, they are quite affordable. And you will definitely love it.

Indoors vs Outdoors

What's with the kids today and electronics and gadgets? Gone where the days where kids play in the park and outdoor to get plenty of sunshine. Kids these days tend to stay indoors. And it seems like they will not survive a day without their precious electronics.

My son still hasn't given up asking for a new cellphone. Especially when his dad just got the new and the best HTC Incredible Smartphone.

While we were in Boracay last June 2010 to attend my cousin's wedding, my kids prefer to stay inside the cottage with air-conditioning and their DSi's instead of the beach. They hate the sun and the sand!

Jack of all traits

Movies these days got so many cool stuff. And my son is ever so amazed and impressed by it all. You can say that my son is a jack of all traits but master of none. He is curious of everything and wants to have them in his possession too.

Take for instance the Eotech 552. It's just a night vision compatible holographic sight that eliminates blind spots, constricted vision, or the tunnel vision associated with tubed sights. And he wants one.

I just hope that he is just curious about these things and not get into the Military just to be able to use one. That would not make any mother happy at all.

I am who I am

And I won't change for anyone. I am willing to compromise.

If you are my friend, you will accept me for who I am. The same way I will accept you for who you are. I like the truth and I speak the truth. If it bothers you, stay away from me and never confides in me.

I am a very straight forward person. I have my own faults, I am not perfect. But if you ask me for my opinion, I will tell you what I think. I will NOT tell you things YOU want to hear. So be prepared to get hurt! Because the truth hurts, but at the same time, the truth will set you free. Be open minded. Learn to listen. If you don't like what I have to say, then don't talk to me.

Medical Information

Ever heard of Zoloft or trade name Lustral?

Zoloft is an antidepressant in a group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). This medicine is used to treat major depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder, panic disorder, and social anxiety disorder.

Precaution needs to be made before one uses this. Because according to the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, fetuses exposed to Zoloft during early pregnancy are more than twice as likely to be at risk for heart defects and potentially fatal lung defect.

If you have taken Zoloft during your pregnancy and these facts were not made aware to you, you might be able to file for a Zoloft Lawsuit.

Catch me... I'm in Love

OMG!!! This is another good movie! It really makes me feel like a teenager again. Super kilig to the bones. Gerald Anderson is soooooo handsome!

I am so addicted to watching Pinoy movies online these days. At one point, I was able to watch 4 movies in 1 day. What a bum eh? If you want to watch some Pinoy movies, check out Katambay.com. Quality is on the poor side, but if you're homesick, then it will do.

Catch Me I'm In Love tells the story of two people who was united by chance. Eric (Gerald Anderson), the Presidential son have always been a headache to his father (the President of the Philippines). Having been involved in an issue that was seen by the public. The president decided to take his son into an immersion under the supervision of Roanne (Sarah Geronimo). And from the moment they were together, one have discovered that - special someone who will catch her when she falls.

When God closes a door... somewhere He opens a window...

The week I got laid off at the airport, I got a call from the tax office to see if I want to work off season. It was really a blessing in disguise. It's only part time, and I only committed to twice a week for now and I started yesterday. I still need to prepare our house. My in-laws are coming for a visit next week.

It was good for me but bad for a colleague of mine. She got injured sometime late last year and it seems to be getting worst. She can't sit very long. That's why they asked me to go back to replace her because she needs to slow down a little.

It's a good thing she didn't get her injury at work or the company might have to deal with somebody like a Texas workplace injury Attorney to settle things down. Get well soon C!

Thank you Lord!

I just finished watching "Maalaala Mo Kaya" [in English "Do You Remember"] mother's day [May 14] episode on the internet. The story is a about a mother of 3, who got strong faith with the Lord. First, the husband lost his job. Then tragedy strike. Eldest son was diagnosed with brain cancer. Because of his illness, they couldn't get medical treatment for their second son. 10 months after the eldest died, the second son died of kidney failure. The father can't handle the death of both son and went through depression, up to the point where he tried to kill himself. The mother's strong faith with the Lord helps her keep it all together. And she never doubted the Lord. Later on, the father was able to get back on his feet.

Stories like this makes me realized how blessed we are. And though I am currently unemployed with a brand new car to pay, I am still lucky that hubby got a well paying job and we are all healthy. I just need to cut down on other unnecessary expenses like dining out and shopping. And as long as we are able to pay off our mortgage and other essential things, than we are good.

Let's all remember to count all our blessings, no matter how small they are. Let us just be thankful that we are healthy. After all, health is wealth. Remember, that even though there are people out there with more than what we have, there are also people out there who have less than what we have.

When God closes a door... somewhere He opens a window.
